THE URBAN EMBRACE

Spring 2021

The DCP Diversity Ambassadors came to the sophmore class presenting the idea of a space that is a home and a resource center that could be occupied by anyone. To me, a space like that meant a family environment. Using the original 1920’s Firestone Building of Gainesville, FL it was crucial to be mindful of the history and bones of the buidling to practive historical preservation. My goal for this studio project was to promote a family environment that makes inhabitants feel welcomed but while keeping the integrity of the existing building and its original concept. This is a space that encourages togetherness and transparency.
