STEPPING INTO OAXACA - LAYERS

Spring 2021

As the first Interior Studio project, the main goal to achieve was to learn how to read and design based on a brief. Javier Gutierrez being 63 years of age and from Oaxaca, Mexico, he desired an addition to his Gainesville home that had a studio for him to continue to weave his rugs while listening to his favorite music and that gave him a sense of home. The color scheme of the home is that of Oaxaca and his rugs which Javier loves to surround himself with. He has an intimate connection to nature which was taken into much consideration from home placement on the lot to the interior lighting and views. The new additions to his home allow Javier to display all the things he loves: his porcelain horse collection, rugs, connection to natures, and Oaxaca.
